Social and Human Service Assistants help social workers, healthcare workers and other professionals to provide services to people, to improve their quality of life. They play a variety of roles in the community, from organizing and leading group activities & assisting clients in need of counseling or crisis to administering food banks, work in half-way houses, group homes to hospitals & clinics.

SHSA is a generic term for workers with a wide array of job titles, including human service worker, case management aide, social work assistant, community support worker, mental health aide, community outreach worker, life skills counselor, social services aide, youth worker, psychological aide, client advocate & gerontology.

If you enjoy working and helping people of all ages and want to make a difference in the lives of people and like the challenges of playing a variety of roles, then this is your opportunity to enter a field which is very rewarding, both financially and self-gratifying.

All programs, including Continuing Education programs are available on-line. Credits earned can be transferred for training in many other professions e.g. Business, Health Care, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences or Language & Cultures. New classes start in January, April, July and October.  Accelerated programs, credits for previous studies, scholarships, student loans and easy monthly payment facilities are available. Additional, non-credit courses, can be had for $5.00 per hour, based on availability. Please refer to DII school catalog or contact the Registrar for more information.

The 8-hours CPR & First Aid course is mandatory

28 Courses = 1,260 clock hours
Tuition: $3,860.00
