Teaching Assistant

Font Size:

The teaching assistant (TA) certificate trains individuals to provide direct instructional services to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. TAs also work as substitute teachers as well as supervise various activities of school children.

If you enjoy working with children, have a foreign heritage or  if you speak a foreign language or have had training in foreign languages or cultures, this may be a great opportunity for you to become a teaching assistant or a substitute teacher.

We require that our students exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills, and develop high levels of technical competence across areas of education. The students should be able to get along well with children, work effectively with teachers, accept responsibility and be patient.

All programs, including Continuing Education programs are available on-line. Credits earned can be transferred for training in many other professions e.g. Business, Health Care, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences or Language & Cultures. New classes start in January, April, July and October.  Accelerated programs, credits for previous studies, scholarships, student loans and easy monthly payment facilities are available. Additional, non-credit courses, can be had for $5.00 per hour, based on availability. Please refer to DII school catalog or contact the Registrar for more information.
